Morgan Sindall secures £65 million of contracts from Hull BSF scheme
Morgan Sindall has been awarded three contracts, worth a total of £65 million, from Hull City Council’s Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.
The three new-build contracts comprise Kingswood College of Arts, a new school that will specialise in art, a scheme to build Oakfield Special Needs School and a contract to construct Andrew Marvell Business and Enterprise College (AMBEC) which is to be rebuilt on its current site.
The contracts follow the Hull Esteem Consortium, a partnership consisting of Morgan Sindall Investments, Robertson Capital Projects and Hull-based Sewell Group, reaching financial close on this latest phase of the BSF programme.
Work on all three projects is scheduled to complete in time for the start of the new school term in January 2013.
Gordon Ray, regional managing director at Morgan Sindall, says: “This is another major step forward for Hull’s largest regeneration scheme and great news for the local communities that these three new schools will serve.
“Morgan Sindall is nearing completion on the BSF programme’s two ‘sample' schemes at Winifred Holtby and Tweendykes School and Archbishop Sentamu Academy. Both projects are set to be delivered on time and to budget, ready for the start of the new school year. We are looking forward to working closely with these three latest schools, and their communities, to deliver more vital learning facilities.
“We have a permanent presence in Hull and a strong, multi-discipline team. We’re committed to opening up more opportunities for the local supply chain and playing an active role in the long term
development of the region, both through this project and future opportunities outside of the BSF programme.”
Hull Esteem Consortium, together with Hull City Council and Partnership for Schools, form a local education partnership (LEP) which provides project and operational management and new project development services, ensuring the BSF programme is delivered on time and on budget.
