Enhancing assets for a sustainable supply
Improving electricity and gas distribution networks to provide a safe and secure supply to communities and businesses
- Supporting efficient capital expenditure by improving existing assets to increase their lifespan
- Replacing old cast iron gas pipes with modern polyethylene alternatives
- Using joint sealing technology to repair and refurbish fluid-filled cables rather than replacing them outright, minimising disruption and bringing cost saving
Our energy distribution customers are relied upon to provide safe supplies of gas and electricity 24 hours a day. We help them deliver this by replacing and upgrading distribution facilities, to safeguard the service received by millions of people.
Working for Distribution Network Operators, we install and maintain electrical networks from low voltage to 132kV. We are experienced in delivering repair and refurbishment contracts including dig and lay, substations, cabling, overhead lines and Extra High Voltage (EHV).
We work closely with our customers to assist them in meeting regulatory requirements and achieving the maximum lifespan from their assets. We also use innovation to reduce costs – such as trenchFSMR, a sustainable trench reinstatement technique introduced on our Stoke Bardolph 132kV cable installation project for Western Power Distribution.
Our gas capabilities include network installation and replacement of low and medium pressure networks. We are skilled in the use of trenchless technology, which helps reduce disruption and environmental impact.
Our recent work includes several 132kV cable installation projects across the United Kingdom, and a framework with Western Power Distribution to deliver excavation and repairs across the North Midlands including woodpole overhead lines. Elsewhere within the energy sector, we have completed the £70 million Croydon Cable Tunnel for National Grid, and provided enabling works for Clyde Wind Farm, Scotland.
